Romsey Male Voice Choir’s Romsey Festival Concert ‘Men & Magnificent Music’, hosted by Dame Esther Rantzen, raised a whopping £8667.41 for the Choir’s chosen charity Parkinson’s UK.

Romsey Male Voice Choir (RMVC) was pleased to be able to support Romsey Young Carers (RYC) by presenting a cheque for £300 at an RYC awards evening held at ‘Golden Gecko’ on 19 July. This is the second time in recent years that the choir has supported what they regard as an important organisation which recognises the invaluable role played by young carers.

Hosted by Dame Esther Rantzen, Romsey Male Voice Choir’s next concert ‘Men & Magnificent Music’, featuring five male voice choirs, will be held in Romsey Abbey on 15 July as part of the Romsey Festival, and once more the concert will be in aid of Parkinson’s UK.

Two years ago, Romsey Male Voice Choir enjoyed a very jolly and successful concert tour in Jersey singing with the Island’s only male choir, The Jersey Harmony Men. At the end of April, the Harmony Men returned the compliment to sing a kaleidoscope of music with RMVC……

Just a few hiccups threatened to render us late to RMVC’s participation in its second ever competition at the Mid Somerset Festival in Bath.

If we didn’t know it before we certainly know it now. Our Musical Director, Marion Maxey is a star, and her ‘Choral Celebration’, staged in Romsey Abbey, was a triumph!
