CAUSE ONE

As a charity itself it is one of RMVC’s aims to use our concerts not just to entertain, but also to help good causes. Raising funds, whatever the cause is not easy at the best of times, but with the rising cost of everything this is definitely not the best of times.

However, we are delighted to say that back in March our last-minute Special Concert in the United Reformed Church in Romsey in support of the DEC Turkey/Syria Earthquake Appeal allowed us to make a welcome donation of £1000 to the Appeal.  All thanks must go to our choristers for playing their part, our friends the Romsey Youth Choir, performing alongside RMVC, and of course the generosity of the audience.

THE SECOND CAUSE

More recently in July when the Orpheus Singers and Anna Loadman joined RMVC in Romsey Abbey, the cause chosen to benefit from the concert was the RNLI. RMVC has supported the charity in the past, and for the Orpheus Singers it is they say ‘a cause close to our hearts’. Chris Green is the Chairman of the Romsey Fundraising Branch of the RNLI and it was to him that RMVC Chairman Kevin Cleary, Deputy Chairman Jim Philbin and Treasurer Robert Le Grice presented a cheque for £2010. The money was raised through a very successful retiring bucket collection, RMVC’s raffle and concert sponsors and advertisers.
