Just a taster of what’s great about being part of RMVC

So, there we were on those lovely warm and sunny Saturday mornings with recruitment leaflets in hand fighting our way through the uncooperative letter boxes of Romsey’s newest estates, including Abbotswood, Oxlease, Kings Chase and Luzborough Green. This initiative marked the start of our drive to recruit new members, and although we knew not whether our leaflets would be successful in in this quest, our feeling was ‘if you don’t try’……..The purpose was to invite those interested to one of two special ‘Taster Session’ rehearsals where potential members could not only get a flavour of what and how we sing, but also get a sense of the feel and culture of the choir.

So what was the result?  We were delighted to have 11 men joining us over the two sessions and of course our hope is that they will turn their interest into choir membership.

Ian Bullivant was one of those who came along and he kindly gave us his reflections on the experience….

"The very welcoming and relaxed attitude I've received form Members on these first few ‘Taster Sessions’ speak volumes of the Choir, that attitude immediately and clearly puts a potential new Member in their own comfort zone, it certainly did for me. It soon became apparent that there is a strong feeling of togetherness within and for the Choir, and Marion Maxey in particular - I feel relaxed and delighted that after years of delay I’m about to commit.

As a Romsey resident and admirer of ‘The Choir’ I have always been so impressed with the broad 'range of pieces’ they expertly produce and for me, solid and professional performances - that’s down to leadership and the Members.”
