A Memorable Evening of Music and Friendship with Mansfield and District Male Voice Choir News

Our choir was delighted to host the Mansfield and District Male Voice Choir for an uplifting joint concert that filled the Romsey United Reformed Church with energy and genuine friendship.

The programme brought together a vibrant mix of songs, from the spirited Up with the Jolly Roger and Shine to the quieter, thought‑provoking pieces of Hine e Hine and Guardian Angel that showcased the emotional range of male voice singing. Both choirs delivered performances full of character, musicality, and obvious enjoyment, creating an atmosphere that the audience responded to with enthusiasm.  One of the highlights of the evening was the final joint performance of American Trilogy. When Richard Stannard added the organ accompaniment, both choirs lifted their voices with real power and confidence. It was a fitting and thoroughly enjoyable way to bring the concert to a close.

The sense of camaraderie continued long after the final applause. Singers and supporters gathered for an afterglow where conversation flowed, new friendships were made, and a few well‑earned beers were shared. A special thank‑you goes to the Romsey Ladies Support Group, who, as ever, provided a fantastic spread which was much appreciated by all.

It was a night that celebrated not only music, but the community spirit that makes male voice choir singing so special. With such a successful gathering, there’s already talk of a future collaboration in the East Midlands.

Another special moment in the evening came when one of our founder members, Peter Larkin, was presented with an Honorary Membership award. His long‑standing commitment and contribution to the choir were warmly acknowledged.  It was a proud and heartfelt moment that added an extra sense of occasion to the night.
